mom

On this father's day, all I'm thinking about is my mom. She passed yesterday afternoon. More later. If you'd like to read a little piece I wrote on her blog or read her own words and what she was passionate about that blog is here.

What is this world? The one without my mom in it? What a strange and frightening space.

Kitty, this is a brave new world, one your Mom would want you to face with grace and goodness. I know that she is still here with you and with us. I know how much your mother loved the ocean. I do not think I will ever walk on a beach again without thinking of her. She lives inside of you and is always with you in your heart. Thank you for sharing her with all of us. For her sake, I am here if you need me.

I feel like I have lost a dear friend and mentor. My blog is full of her comments. She always had something nice to say to me. She was always encouraging me. I will not deny you your grief. I think you need to cry. But then, when you are done grieving, you need to carry on.

Your Mother's spirit lives in you. Perhaps you will write her story. I was so touched by her last post. She was so reflective and somewhat melancholy. Perhaps she somehow knew. I had a strange feeling when I read that post. I am so glad she posted it, though she wrote that she wasn't sure if she would or not. Give my sympathy to the rest of your family. Let them know what a great influence she was on the world.

I've often thought that same thing -- how strange and frightening to not have one's mother in the world, regardless of how far away she lived, or the state of the relationship....

Hi, Kitty! I can't let your mom's blog space go, so I hope you don't mind if I visit your blog often in memory of Bobbie! I don't comment much, and post rarely myself even though the intention is there! But I read your Mom's blog faithfully and cherished the time spent reading it. Out of the thousands or millions of blogs, was lucky to have stumbled across a few that give substance to my day. Much love to you and your whole family!

Unfortunately I did not had the pleasure to know your Mom and I am sad for this... I am so sorry for her pass away... The blogosphere can join people all around the world for sure.
I have tears on my eyes when I read: "What is this world? The one without my mom in it? What a strange and frightening space."

Kitty, I am so very sorry for your loss. As I'm sure you know, there's no way around the grief you feel...there's only through it. I hope soon that the joy you experienced with you mom will overtake the sadness you feel at her loss.

Best,
Veronica

Thank you all for your support. I appreciate having your words and thoughts to read. As some of you know, my mom was usually the first to comment on all my posts. Obviously that kind of response went beyond the blog. It's hard to lose your biggest supporter.
