Another Shadow Shot Sunday

Another Shadow Shot Sunday? Hmm. I'm not much for routine, but here I seem to be again. Two for two so far.

Recently, a group of grad school friends were in Monterey for a 10-year mini-reunion. I played tourist in my own town for the first time in a long time. We went whale watching one day and on the way to the dock, got to hang out around one of the smelliest animals on the planet: the sea lions. I'm a sucker, though, and individually, from a distance, they are pretty sweet. This one seemed to be gazing into his reflection, uh, shadow.

Behold the stinky sea lion:

And then we saw a bit of this:
I missed the shot of the giant mouths open and pink dining on krill and other gourmet humpback snacks.

After a crazy, packed weekend, we all felt a bit like this:

Oh, I love that first seal checking out his shadow! What a fun shot, Kitty! Bobbie would have loved it, too! Good to see you back again! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

The whale's fluke is a terrific shot. Lucky you to live around Monterey. Hope you get out more with the sealife watching and catch that pink mouth next time around.

Oh, MY! That would be an 'off the charts' day for me to have fun photographing the silly (and smelly) sea lions. But, to witness the humpbacks....out of the park, for sure (as they say).
Great 'catches'!

Amazing photos of the whale - but the sea lion admiring himself is my favourite!!

Whales are beautiful and those sea lions cute. They look relaxed :)
SSS greetings from Casablanca!

The seals and sea lions are furry swimmers, they like us like to get into the sun for relaxation from time to time. Th whale is magnificent, the tail impressive...

No, I'm not a rocket scientist! It's a joke-I think though, if I had math skills taught to me in a more comprehensive manner when I was younger, I definitely would've been a scientist! Probably a physicist...

Nice shots! I don't think I've ever been close enough to a sea lion to smell one. They're cute though!

Fantastic Shadow Shots. Love sea lions & Monterey.
Several years back we were in Monterey and planned on spending the night, but it was the 50th anniversary of Porsche and they were having some kind of todo there. Anyway, ended up driving another 150miles south to find a resting place!! A horrid motel for $125...good memories.hehe.
